United fielded an extremely strong starting eleven with no less than six full internationals in David Batty, Didier Domi, Danny Mills, Stephen McPhail, Seth Johnson and Ian Harte. While Harrogate fielded former Leeds Youth Cup winner Mark Ford, they were no match for the strong United team and were well beaten 4-1. Didier Domi, Jamie McMaster, Stephen McPhail and Matthew Kilgallon got the Leeds goals but Harrogate also had their moments forcing Scott Carson to pull off some outstanding saves. The Leeds substitutes were Stephen McPhail, Paul Keegan, Andy Watson, Dominque Krief and goalkeeper Shaun Allaway. On the Harrogate bench were Liam Sutcliffe, James McDaid, Danny Lowe, Richard Dunning,Glen Naylor, Iain Dunn, Robbie Wellans and Ben Sherwood.
